A Missile Bill in Super Mario Bros. 3.

Missile Bills are red Bullet Bills variants that have heat-seeking visuals.

Thier first appearance was in Super Mario Bros. 3. In this game, a Missile Bill would turn around once if it misses its target, but would continue going forward if it miss twice.

They make another appearance in Super Mario Sunshine at Pinna Park's beach. They are purple and shot from the Monty Mole's cannon. Spraying them with water will cause them to explode. They always home-in, so there's is no way Mario can easily outrun them. They can also destroy the baskets on the beach which hold Blue Coins. They explode when they make contact with an object itself, or the water Mario squirts. This is the only way to open said baskets.

They also reappear in New Super Mario Bros. Wii. Here, they have a simular attack pattern to the one they did in Super Mario Bros. 3. However, this time they can change what angle they fly at. They only appear in World 9-3, alongside a new sub-species, Missile Banzai Bills.

Trivia

  • Although Missile Bills do not appear in Super Mario Galaxy, Bullet Bills act in the same way by homing in on Mario. This is also true with the Bullet Bills fired in Super Mario 64.
