Snowmen first appeared in Super Mario 64. Here only one appears and has had his body melted. If you make him a new one, he will reward you with a Power Star.

A Snowman or Snowmen appear as obstacles in the Mario Kart 64 course Frappe Snowland and the Mario Kart DS course DK Pass. When the player collides with one of these snowmen, the player will drop any items they have, and they will be knocked backwards a fair way. In DK Pass, they are much more dangerous, as they can potentially knock the player off the edge, and into the abyss. These snowmen are seen to have scarves around their necks. Note that Frappe Snowland also appears in Mario Kart DS's Retro Grand Prix.
