In a video presentation published by Nintendo on Mario Day, Shigeru Miyamoto and Chris Meledrandi announce a sequel to the The Super Mario Bros. Movie. Further Super Mario-related announcements are made in the presentation: release dates for Luigi's Mansion 2 HD and Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door for Nintendo Switch, as well as the addition of Dr. Mario, Mario Golf, and Mario Tennis to the Game Boy - Nintendo Switch Online application.
Mario vs. Donkey Kong for the Nintendo Switch (pictured) was released worldwide on February 16, 2024.
Mojo Nixon, musician and actor who portrayed Toad in the 1993 Super Mario Bros. film, died on February 7, 2024 at the age of 66.
Universal Orlando Resort's Epic Universe, which includes Super Nintendo World and the Donkey Kong Country area, is set to open in 2025.
