Smart Bombs are red colored explosives created by the Koopa Troop that only appeared in the Nintendo Comics System issue, "Duh Stoopid Bomb!".
The Smart Bombs were created as a counterpart to the titular Stupid Bombs, likely as a countermeasure or contingency in the event the Stupid Bombs backfired on them. They released an intelligence-rising gas when detonated; King Koopa showed a cache of Smart Bombs to a Snifit shortly after several of his Shy Guys had rendered themselves stupid via the other bombs. The Snifit grabs one, which goes off in his hands, and breathes in the fumes, becoming super-intelligent and usurping Bowser as king. Unfortunately, the super-intelligent Snifit has no better luck trying to control the stupefied troops.
