Putrid Piranha

There are two species of Putrid Piranha--the Lavalava variety and the Keelhaul variety.

Lavalava Putrid Piranha

These are only encountered in Paper Mario. Putrid Piranhas are close relatives to Piranha Plants, and are quite like a tropical version. However, the biggest differences are that Putrid Piranhas have heavy heads, which forces the Piranha Plant to droop its head, tongue lolling out. Another difference is that Putrid Piranhas have special glands that turn their breath into a deadly toxin. Any animal that breathes in the breath becomes lethally poisoned. The final major difference is that, although Putrid Piranhas are most common in the Jade Jungle of Lavalava Island, they are able to live in extremely hot temperatures, such as inside a volcano.

Keelhaul Putrid Piranha

The Putrid Piranhas that live on Keelhaul Key are a sub-species of Piranha Plant, rather than a close species. Instead of being red with white spots, they are yellow with green spots. Like their Lavalava relatives, the Putrid Piranha has glands that turn their breath into a lethal poison. Unlike their Lavalava relatives, they do not droop and are not able to live in burning temperatures.

  • Stats: HP: 8, Attack: 3, Defense: 0
  • Tattle:That's a Putrid Piranha. It's a poisonous Piranha Plant. That color is totally sickly... Max HP is 8, Attack is 3, and Defense is 0. It bites, AND it attacks with super-rank poison breath. Breath mint, table four! If you get poisoned, your HP will slowly go down, so, y'know, try not to.
  • Tattle Number: 57
  • Tattle Log: A poisonous Piranha Plant. It'll poison your allies. Use your guard effectively to avoid poisoning.
