- Mario Party: Island Tour is yet still also the second Mario Party game to include Yellow Toad (pictured) as the host; the first being Mario Party 9.
- Peach's dress in this game is actually an early design for her current dress as seen in all games from Mario Party 4 onwards albeit a sundress, and the first time she wears a ponytail.
- In an interview with Shigeru Miyamoto published in 1991, in Nintendo Power's Mario Mania Player's Guide, Miyamoto reportedly said: "Who knows what Mario will look like in the future? Maybe he'll wear metallic clothes!" The Metal Mario form's first appearance was in 1996, five years later.
- MC Ballyhoo breaks the fourth wall during the Star Battle Arena when he says "But wait! We have YOU!"
