Shaydes are the residents of The Underwhere in Super Paper Mario. After someone dies in the 2-D dimension, they become these. Some actually believe that their lives in the aftergame are better than they were before their games ended. Conversations that they have include the conditions of one another's deaths, what happens to those who falls in the River Twygz, and whether or not they can go to the Overthere.
Trivia
- The name "Shayde" is a corruption of "shade", a similar undead spirit that existed in the Greek underworld.
- Shaydes bear some resemblance to Skellobits from the same game. It can seem as if the Skellobits are Shaydes equipped with weapons (primarily spears). It is also implied that Shaydes who were evil in life become Skellobits when Jaydes condemns them to suffer for eternity.
- One Shayde said he got sick with multicolor viruses. That is a reference to Dr. Mario.
