The first in the Mario Kart sub-series, Super Mario Kart is a fun and worthy racing battle game for the Super Nintendo. Controls are strong, gameplay is good, and replayability is relatively high.
Drivers
Koopa Troopa
Arguably the most popular driver in the game. He has a high speed, but good acceleration and steering. He is very easily bumped around, so don't play chicken against Bowser. When the computer uses him, he will sometimes throw green or red shells at you.
Toad
He's a pretty good driver. Not very popular it seems however. He has the same stats as Koopa Troopa. When the computer uses him, he will sometimes throw mushrooms in front of you that will shrink you if you hit them.

- Top Speed: Great!
- Steering: Good
- Weight: Poor
Princess Peach

Yoshi
Has the same abilities of the Princess, but personally, I like Yoshi more. When the computer uses him, he will sometimes throw eggs at you.

Mario
A good all-around player. Top speed, acceleration, turning, etc. are all balanced. When the computer uses him, he will sometimes use Star power (invincibility).
Luigi
Also an all-around player, same stats as his brother. When the computer uses him, he will sometimes use Star power (invincibility).
Mario & Luigi

- Top Speed: Good
- Steering: Good
Bowser
BOne tough looking dude, and he has the highest top-speed in the game. He also has one of the slowest accelerations. Be careful not to bump into any walls if you drive with him. I don't recommend him for battle mode because of his slow acceleration. When the computer uses him, he will sometimes throw lava balls at you.
Donkey Kong Jr.
The same stats as Bowser. When the computer uses him, he will sometimes throw bananas at you.
Bowser & DK Jr.
- Acceleration: Slow
- Top Speed: Great!
- Steering: Good
