- On September 23, 2016, it was discovered that purchased Nintendo eShop pre-load data was actually the full game of Paper Mario: Color Splash (pictured), granting players early access two weeks ahead of schedule in North America. Nintendo, however, removed the pre-order option within hours, and stated that this was inadvertent.
- Grumble Volcano is the only race course with lava in the Mario Kart series that is not named after Bowser.
- Donkey Kong, Rosalina, Toadette, Birdo, and Dry Bones are the only characters in the Mario Party series to have been both an unlockable and a starter character.
