Downtown of Crag is the first area encountered in the Land of the Cragnons (therefore making it Chapter 5-1) in Super Paper Mario. It is the home of the Cragnons. The town lies in the shadow of Mount Crag.

Despite its primitive appearance, Downtown of Crag has stereo systems, Cragvision sets, and other modern electronic devices, though all are made from rocks.

Downtown of Crag has many items that are either normally hard to find or are unobtainable anywhere else. There is an Itty Bits store in the village; it is the only place where Mario can obtain Mild Cocoa Beans, a common recipe ingredient. He can also buy Keel Mangoes from the store. The Howzit's Shop in the village sells Primordial Fruit. With the exception of one of the Chapters in Castle Bleck, Bone Meat Cuts are exclusive to the chapter, as it is the only place where Mario can find Muths.

Mario's first encounter with Floro Sapiens

It just so happened that two Cragnons were pleading to the Big Rock Who Watches (possibly a reference to the Player), wanting their race to be saved, directly below Mario. Believing Mario to have been sent by the Rock, they welcomed him and briefed him on what was happening: the Floro Sapiens were capturing Cragnons! As if on cue, some Cragnons were shortly thereafter captured, and the chase began.

Mario's chasing of the Floro Sapiens led him through a rocky, barren area infested with Putrid Piranhas, Muths, and interestingly Moon Clefts. In the end, after solving Cragnon puzzles Mario and his party reached the Gap of Crag. Template:Endspoiler
