The Long Jump (called Leap in Super Mario 3D Land[1]) is a special move in the 3D Mario platformers except for Super Mario Sunshine because of F.L.U.D.D.. To use this move, the player must Crouch while in motion and Jump, causing the character to jump a long horizontal distance.

It is possible to start moving backwards after the initial jump, a maneuver that can activate many in-game glitches.

There is also a variation of long jump called the Double Kick, and can be done in Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2. This move can defeat enemies and activate items.
