- The design of the Toad Express (pictured) used in Super Mario Sunshine appears to be based on certain real-world Flying Boats and STOL Aircraft, while the one in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga is more based on 'Jumbo Jet' Aircraft.
- Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga is the only Mario & Luigi game that cannot currently be played on the Nintendo DSi and on the Nintendo 3DS.
- In the Japanese comic Super Mario-Kun, the Koopa Clown Car was named differently at the start of the series. It was named Pierocopter, from "pierot" (clown) and "helicopter".
- The miniature Chomp head on Tutankoopa's hat seems to be alive, since it moves its mouth at times.
