Princess (Paper Mario: Color Splash): Difference between revisions
(edit summary removed) |
(Princess is only shown to have the more Thousand-Year Door-esque design in an unused sprite (which also has a different bow design). Looking closely at the pictures from the professor's house, the mouth and fangs are EXACTLY like the Chain Chomps from Sticker Star to Origami King, and NOT like in the classic Paper Mario trilogy) |

- —Huey, Paper Mario: Color Splash
Princess is a female Chain Chomp who appears in Paper Mario: Color Splash. During the game, she and her owner, Prof. Kinopio, go for a walk through Mondo Woods but never return. When Mario finds the professor weeping in the woods, it is revealed that Princess had escaped from her chain and ran away. After Mario and Huey reach Marmalade Valley, it is implied that Princess had grown to huge proportions as a side effect of the magic Kamek had used to do the same to Mondo Woods. After escaping her destructive attack through the construction site, Mario and Huey must use the Cutout technique in Château Chanterelle and the Bone Thing to bait her back home. She acts very similar to a rolling Chomp after growing huge.
Princess reappears when using the Bone Thing card on an enemy, where she rolls over and damages them to get the bone.
She also briefly shows up during the Toad celebration in Port Prisma after Mario collects the Yellow Big Paint Star.
There are also pictures of Princess when she was smaller in the professor's house at Château Chanterelle, which show her and the professor playing. Here it is shown that Princess lacks the trapezoid-shaped connector between the chain and body, which were previously shown with Chain Chomps in Paper Mario: Sticker Star. This lack of connector would later be shared with Princess from Paper Mario: The Origami King.
An unused sprite of Princess was found in the game's data, which design resembles that of Chain Chomps in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, as opposed to the more recent Paper Mario: Sticker Star or in the pictures of the younger Princess that were actually used, due to the Chomp Shark-like mouth with the narrower fangs. The pink bow that Princess is wearing is also shaped different compared to that of Princess in the pictures.
