World 1 (Super Mario Bros.): Difference between revisions

The first underground level of the game.  First you go down a pipe to the stage. Two Goombas will approach so make sure you stay away from the blocks while they approach. A power-up is located on the first of five blocks so try and get it of course. Then, you go through a course of platforms one block higher than the other. If you are by the lone block in a gap with a guarding Goomba, kill the Goomba. The block holds 10 coins. Next is a W-shaped platform with two Koopas below. Knock out the blocks on the first vertical block line to get the rest.  The highest coin on the last vertical block line holds a Starman. Approaching a C-shaped obstacle with yet '''another''' Koopa at the bottom. There are two ways to pass this. First, kill the Koopa and if you're small, run under the space.  Second, if you're Super or Fire Mario, knock out the two blocks closest to the wall to jump through. Grab the four coins on the above platforms and beware of Goombas. Get the lone coin and if you're Super Mario knock out the last block by the coin to find a power-up. To get to the higher platform with coins is to jump off the platforms before that.  Where the last coin is, if you jump is a[[1-UP]]. An easier tactic to get the 1-UP is to knock the block next to it. Otherwise, chase the 1-Up (don't go too far!) until you reach the falling girder platforms. The last brick block holds a power-up. Also the first pipe in that row leads to a Coin Room. Jumping over the pipe blocks lead to a [[Warp Zone]]. Taking the pipe leads to Level 1-3.
