The Elder Key is a special item in Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. It is found in Booster Tower after looking at the portraits of Booster and his ancestors midway up the tower in the proper order, which is displayed in the foyer. With it, Mario gains access to the room the imprisoned Chomp is held in, which joins Bowser as a weapon.
