Once collected, they remain in Mario's Album until they are turned into a sticker at a Sling-a-Thing station. Once they have been used as a sticker, they return to their original position. They can also be purchased from the Shady Toad for 120 Coins and sells for 20 coins.

Like the other types of scissors, the Hair Shears can be used during the second phase of battling Bowser in Bowser's Sky Castle to defeat the Whomp. The Hair Shears can also be placed into the Sticker Museum as #2, alongside the other cut-related Things. Both descriptions note their apparent similarities to the other types of scissors as well as their burden to use.
