Well, technically, your message got to me a minute too late, but I'm not such a stickler for the rules that I won't say "eh, close enough" (plus, admins are allowed to veto things after the fact if we want, anyway, so w/e, there's many reasons for it to be doable). Anyway, once I'm done here, I'll go cancel it to make way for a full move proposal. And in regards to your other question, since you'd have to move the stuff by manually cutting and pasting, the corresponding page history would have to stay here, which is less than ideal. However, this method of archiving is allowed as long as you only do it sparingly (it's discussed on MW:Userpsace, if you're curious), so feel free to move the extra 2014 stuff if you want. - 19:19, 5 January 2015 (EST)

::Yep, thought you were blanking it, since you pretty much were blanking it. I've only seen the dash used when the names were identical or nearly between languages, and I mean letter-for-letter (see here and here for examples). Language can be fickle, so if the name is clearly non-English, it's generally better to write it out. Think of it like this: assuming that I have no knowledge in French, someone telling me that "Goomba" is French for "Goomba" is rather redundant, while someone telling me that "Lance Marto" is French for "Hammer Throw" is useful even though Hammer Throw is already the English name. On that point, translations can also vary from person to person, since Lance Marto can be literally read as "Throw Hammer," so presenting one translation is neater for organization's sake. One could even bring up the multiple interpretations in cases of ambiguity or when discussions might pop up as demonstrated by Walkazo). In short, leave the dash for the really obvious translations.

:::Holy Blargg, indeed. I'm not exactly in the best of conditions right now, and I'm certainly not up for any editing, but I just wanna let you know that I've (tried my best to) read through your message. If you haven't already, could you make some of those moves you were talking about?
::::So, I'm in slightly-better-but-not-really condition right now, and I've made pretty much all of the changes you mentioned (though I'm still in the process of fully updating the list). On a side note, I don't think unofficial names from a hack count. Actually, I wanted to ask you a question about another name-related matter: the Super Mario Land 2 enemies! I've already made a few moves based on an issue of Nintendo Power, but I have a habit of both reading things too quickly and being cautious when it comes to attaching names to things. The relevant pages are here; I was hoping you could read through them and see if there's anything I've missed.
re:name
ok, sourced the unambiguous names. "pillars" are in lowercase, and the one page I found mentioning the cannon pipes call them "pipe cannons" in the one page I found, but I don't remember in which levels those appear in. --Glowsquid (talk) 10:40, 21 May 2015 (EDT)
About the Bro. comment
Hello, Smasher345 here. I just logged into my account on Gamefaqs since forever and just noticed you messaged me about the boss sumo bro from the Prima guide. Sorry about that, I haven't been active for a while, I was kinda busy. Anyway, about the period, don't worry about it, I'm going to double check that, though it might be hard since I never really had the guide book. I read the guidebook at a Best Buy store that was not wrapped up allowing me to open it and read it, which is where I got the name of Boss Sumo Bro. But I'll try my best to see if the period is really there, unless someone else has already done it. Sorry for the late reply. 21:13, 16 June 2015 (EDT)
Re:Cat Marios
I believe I created the article out of a red link, I didn't actually name it myself. It was there as early as pre-release date. Golden Statue Mario is named in this revision. I don't want to dig up where Lucky Cat Mario was named but I believe I followed a red link and created the article there. 01:16, 28 June 2015 (EDT)
:Well what I meant to say is that it was originally red-linked (since the article didn't exist at the time) and added by other users, all I did was create the page. If it's not the official name, feel free to move it. It was named prior to the game's release anyway. 04:51, 28 June 2015 (EDT)

Before you get too trigger-happy with removing German names, playthoughs do exist of the game in German, and they seem official to me.
:Isn't there a PAL version that came out for the Virtual Console? Wouldn't there be German names there?
::According to the German Mario Wiki (and a handy dose of Google Translate), the game is only available in English. Looks like I was in the wrong on this one.

Disambiguation pages should not be used as a category, they should be used to disambiguate. Former examples include kings and bats being massively trimmed from every king/bat in the series to things literally called "King"/"Bat", with reasonable exceptions included (such as "Home-Run Bat" as many people would search "Bat" for it and it wouldn't be entirely incorrect to call it "bat" in articles). I think an elder category might turn out vague (is it just old people in a leader position?), but it'd work out with some finetuning. In any case, categories and disambiguation pages aren't interchangeable.
SMRPG moves
I question the widsom of some of your recent page moves, like Mr. Kipper to Mr.Kipper. It's obvious Ted Woolsey only spaced the names that way due to the problems he had fitting the text into the memory for his previous translations at Square, and nobody's going to search for the names spaced like that. 90's video game translators may had have to deal with the limitations of cartridge storage, but we don't. --Glowsquid (talk) 23:55, 1 August 2015 (EDT)
:That's nice, tho I was also reffering to the ones like "FroggieDrink" and "EarlierTimes" --Glowsquid (talk) 01:10, 2 August 2015 (EDT)
::Yeah, that'd be appreciated. --Glowsquid (talk) 20:23, 2 August 2015 (EDT)

Link editing
I've reminded you of this before, but whenever you move an article, you're also responsible for fixing all of the links to that article. You've amassed a bit of a backlog, so I'd suggest cleaning up now before making any other moves. 13:08, 29 November 2015 (EDT)
