Bees are insects. They first appeared in Yoshi's Story, where they would fly around their beehive, and won't let Yoshi pass. Yoshi had to walk slowly so he wouldn't bother the Bees.
Other larger bees also appeared in Yoshi's Story, as enemies that would sting Yoshis if he got too close.
Bees also appear in Super Mario Sunshine. Various Beehives could be found in Bianco Hills, Gelato Beach, and Pianta Village.
