- There wasn't a proper citation, so it was tagged as conjecture (from what it seems, since 2007). Looking at the older manuals shows that they don't really refer to the fake Bowsers by name, and at least one of the original guides (How to Win at Super Mario Bros.) only calls the castle bosses "KOOPA" and "BOWSER" interchangeably.
