== Substituting "Earth" and "Real-life" as "Real World" (objects)... really? ==
{{talk}}
I never understood why "Real World" is used liberally to refer to real-life objects. Of course, "Real World" is called like that ''only'' in the show, but we should use that term only when the show is in question. For instance, you don't link to "Real World" or use that term in the [[Vegetable]] page unless it's in a section pertaining to the show. Any additional thoughts on this? {{User:Mario/sig}} 21:59, 23 March 2014 (EDT)

Revision as of 21:59, March 23, 2014

I have shocking evidence that may prove that the the Mushroom World is infact the same as the Earth. Read the first sentence of Orbulon's bio in WarioWare, Inc. Mega Party Game$. The bio is official as it was copid from the game's character introduction. It also reveals that the character in the Mushroom World speak English (at least the citizens of Diamond City do).--Knife (talk) 21:13, 14 February 2007 (EST)

Unless "earth" is just a colloqial term used by people on the planet, or that the Mushroom World is an alternate version of Earth (and would still be a different planet) - just like the cartoons and movie. Orbulon kinda screwed up everything, especially since the planets themselves are so different (look at the number of moons for each). It is also possible Diamond City is on Earth, not in Mario's World (note that most residents are humans). -- Son of Suns

But when Orbulon's spaceship crashes, it lands in a place that looks like the continents of earth, with even a blue background. But then again, the WarioWare series are pretty jacked up so the developers may have overlooked the canonicalness.--Knife (talk) 18:07, 15 February 2007 (EST)

Actually the cartoon and movie are non cannon. That shows that the brothers are most likely not from brooklyn and the mushroom kingdom is on earth

Movies and cartoons are not "non-canon", they are alternate-canon. -- Son of Suns

Ahhh, the concept of alternate universes, what would we do without it? -- Sir Grodus

I guess There is not real cannon. Cannon I guess would have to do with point of views.

My two cents

Hey guys... I hope I'm not being rude, but doesn't it seem like we are making lots of unfair assumptions? Earth is referred to many times throughout the series, so to say that there are two different planets is just an assumption. We're assuming that canon is false or we are bending it to meet our own preconceived notions about the Marioverse.

Now, for those who believe that Mario is Missing! is canon, the Mushroom Kingdom is obviously not part of the "real world," but there is nothing as far as I know implying interplanetary travel. Therefore, it would make sense that there's an alternate dimention thing going on.

And the two moon theory? Doesn't hold up. The moon from Yoshi's Island was small enough that we wouldn't see it from our telescopes.

Thanks for your time! --Stumpers

They are still two different planets even if one is in an alternate dimension. The cartoons strongly seperate the two, as does the movie. In the video games, it is less clear. -- Son of Suns

It is MOST LIKELY they are two seperate planets in one universe. But that's my opinion. TheGreatBlockyBoo 14:56, 12 May 2007 (EDT)

Continents?

Is there a reason why there a links to the Continents of Earth on this page. - Pokemon DP

Probably because of The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3 episode "7 Continents for Seven Koopas"; it had the Koopalings conquering the continents and Mario, Luigi, Toad and Princess Toadstool traveling to them. -- Sir Grodus

SPM Earth

Actually if you look closely it doesn't look like Earth...only my opinion. SuperLuigi821

I agree. It really only looks like Earth because it has blue water and green land - which would be expected of any planet habitable by humans. There are no distinctly recognizable landmarks that pin it down as Earth. It also seems a little odd that the Underwhere and Overthere are on Earth. CrossEyed7 01:48, 17 July 2007 (EDT)

I think that whole "earth" thing in SPM was a joke and wasn't canonical.
The preceding unsigned comment was added by NMRodo (talk).

Do you have any proof for that, though? We could technically justify anything as a joke, which is the problem. I've felt the same way before, but what it comes down to is that if you want to draw conclusions, you have to take everything, even WarioWare's "jacked-up-ness" that was mentioned above. It's all canon. Stumpers! 01:15, 28 November 2007 (EST)

They live in Earth?

Taken from the Virtual Boy Wario Land manual.

I found myself deep within the Earth! I was quite angry and vowed revenge on these creatures.

Unless he was taking a vaction on Earth, that means Earth is the same as the Mushroom Planet. Tadaa!2.gifPlumber, (at least in the games)Tadaaa!.gif

This is already mentioned on the Earth page. And Mushroom World article states it may be an alternate Earth. I think we have our bases covered. At the very least, in the cartoons and movie, there is Earth and Mario's world that are distinct. And the Earth in the edutainment titles is clearly not the same world featured in other games. A lot of this is in the Mushroom World talk page. -- Son of Suns

Ya do know that Earth could also mean like rocks, so maybe he was deep underground. File:MiniMario.pngMinimariolover10 TALK TO ME ABOUT MINIES!!

Stumpers Causes More Trouble

I've been noticing around the Wiki that people will make references to "real world counterparts" and other things like that, linking the phrase real world here. There's one in the Cheese article for example, but there are others as well. This is fine to me if the games mention cheese or Chez-Its (Bowser's Snack-'Ems article... or something like that) as being part of the Real World, but if they don't, can we do that? What I'm really looking for is evidence that, according to the canon, Mario could potentially walk through a Warp Pipe to the real world, come over to my house, and hang out... or, more simply, that the world you and I are in is the same (down to the current events happening today) as the Real World of the Marioverse? Just something more to think about. Stumpers! 03:33, 10 December 2007 (EST)

Real World or Earth?

In the TV shows, this was never referred to as the Earth, but always the Real World. Can someone confirm where this was called Earth? Stumpers! 21:32, 18 January 2008 (EST)

...In the real world? Seriosly, it has never been called "Earth" in any Mario media if I'm correct. It's always been the Real World. Paperjorgesp.png Paper Jorge Paperjorgesp.png
Booster just informed me that in the instruction booklet for Mario is Missing! it was called Earth. The booklet is online, so we have a source too! Three cheers for Booster! Stumpers! 17:07, 20 January 2008 (EST)

Trivia

None of the Trivia entries seem related to Mario. Should they be kept because of their relevance of to the Smash Bros. series, or removed? (If they should be kept in any form at all, I think they should be merged into a single entry stated that Super Smash Bros.'s weird alternate universe thing combines characters from Earth with those of the Mushroom World and everything.) YELLOWYOSHI398

The trivia, which was removed by another user, should definately not be on this article. For that matter, there should be no mention of non-Mario Super Smash Bros. locations on this page. The just as "This World" has no relation to "Mushroom World", the games that take place on earth in other series have no relation to Mario's version of earth. In short, we cannot assume that the F-Zero locations, or Earthbound, or Animal Crossing, or Pikmin locations will ever, during any time period, be on Mario's earth, which this article is about. Example: Just as Mario doesn't have a plumbing business in the Animal Crossing continuity, Tortimer did not dress up and scatter acorns about a town in the Mario continuity. Stumpers! 00:29, 24 April 2008 (EDT)

The problem is Solved

I agree with someone who said that Mushroom Kingdom is a kind of an alternate dimension from Earth. Anyway, if the Earth (yes, our planet) is mentioned somewhere in the game or movie, it can get confusing. I don't know why but it makes me laugh if I read the article.
