Additionally, the Mini Toads are the second type of Minis that the player encounters during gameplay (the first being the Mini Marios). However, a key difference is that the spots on the Mini Toads' heads are shown to be blue instead of red in this game, giving them a coloration very similar to Blue Toad or Toad's original coloration from Super Mario Bros. 2. In Mini-Land Mayhem, Mini Toads were most likely given blue spots for two reasons, one being that Blue Toad is a playable character in New Super Mario Bros. Wii, and the other being that Mini Mario's exit was already red, so Mini Toad had to get a different color (therefore it was represented by the color blue which also matched up with the color of its door).

The Mini Toads are Toad toys produced and sold by the Mario Toy Company. They first appear in Mario vs. Donkey Kong 2: March of the Minis and make return appearances in Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Minis March Again!, Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Mini-Land Mayhem!, and Mario and Donkey Kong: Minis on the Move.

History

Mario vs. Donkey Kong 2: March of the Minis

The success of the Mario Toy Company's earlier toys, the Mini Marios, was so great that it allowed them to expand to sell other mini toys, including Mini Peach, and Mini Donkey Kong toys as well. Like all the other Minis besides Mini Marios, they are sealed in a capsule and can be free when touched.

Mini Toads are playable characters in this game as well, but Special Kit 1 (which is unlocked by completing 3 minigames) has to be unlocked first in order to use them. If a Mini Toad comes in contact with a Fire Flower, it will become a Fire Mini Toad.

Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Minis March Again!

Mini Toads appear again in the third installment Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Minis March Again!. They can be unlocked after defeating World 4's DK and then winning Rooftop levels 1-3.

Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Mini-Land Mayhem!

The Mini Toads reappear in Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Mini-Land Mayhem!, where they can be unlocked by submitting a level to the Challenge Mode Contest. Additionally, the Mini Toads are the second type of Minis that the player encounters during gameplay (the first being the Mini Marios). However, a key difference is that the spots on the Mini Toads' heads are shown to be blue instead of red in this game.

Mario and Donkey Kong: Minis on the Move

Mini Toads once again appear in Mario and Donkey Kong: Minis on the Move. In this game, the Mini Toads retain their blue coloration from Mini-Land Mayhem!. The Mini Toad is unlocked as a playable character by unlocking the Many Mini Mayhem mode in the main game. Mini Toad is also unlockable as one of the toys in the Toy Collection, earned by collecting thirty stars.

Trivia

 • Mini Toads are the only mini toy without a legs or a wind-up key.
