The Helicopter Twirl is Dixie Kong's special attack move in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest and Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!. In the manuals, this move is commonly referred to as the "Helicopter Spin".
Since Dixie cannot roll as Donkey or Kiddy, she uses the helicopter twirl to attack. She can also use it to hover in the air to get across gaps and other hazardous ground objects. When Dixie is using her helicopter twirl to hover, Diddy and/or Kiddy start rolling in the air, following her.
Tiny Kong, her younger sister, also uses this move, except she uses both of her ponytails to attack, and it is called the Ponytail Whirl. Compared to Tiny Kong's Ponytail Whirl, the Helicopter Twirl, when used to slow descent, is used with the same button as attacking (Y Button in SNES and Virtual Console versions, B Button in the GBA versions). Meanwhile Tiny's Ponytail Whirl is used with the same button as jumping (A Button). Tiny's Ponytail Whirl is used only in Donkey Kong 64.
