No. 48[1] (also formatted as No.48)[2] is a robotic enemy encountered in Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins. Only one of them appears in the first stage of the Space Zone. No. 48 impedes Mario's progress by opening up and throwing explosive stars at him. However, it can be defeated with a simple stomp or a fireball. Due to its behavior of jumping while throwing an arcing projectile, it is comparable to Hammer Bros. It arrived with Tatanga,[3] and it apparently comes from the same homeworld.[4][5]
