The battle is always random, but Bowser and Luigi must survive for 8 turns, on a medium-sized battlefield. Both characters are at opposite sides of the battlefield at the start. The enemies that appear are Riptides, Depleters, and Oozers. Indestructible Darkmess portals will appear during the battle, containing said enemies. Riptides appear much more than the others, which may result in a Riptide army near the end. After 8 turns have passed, the battle is won.
