They are found mainly in snowy or icy levels, and usually at the end of a level; skis more or less share every identical characteristic in both ''Yoshi's Island'' and its sequel. Unlike most other vehicles in these games, [[Yoshi]] gets skis by entering a hut and emerging on them. Although players cannot change the direction Yoshi is skiing in, pressing {{button|snes|B}} makes him perform a jump. Failing to jump over ramps causes Yoshi to roll up into a snowball and roll uncontrollably for a couple of seconds. Skiing sections of a level can last as much as three sections or 'screens' of a level. Β
