The Skellirex is an undead skeletal dinosaur-like enemy that appears in Donkey Kong Country Returns and Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D. They have a small body and a large head. They first appear in the level Tumblin' Temple, but they mostly appear in the Cliff world. In Prehistoric Path, there are Skellirexes riding in Mine Carts.
The Skellyrex is an undead dinosaur-like enemy that first appeared in Donkey Kong Country Returns. These enemies are mostly found at the Cliff area of Donkey Kong Island, but they also appear in the level, Tumblin' Temple. Skellyrexes mostly move around from left to right, usually posing a minimal threat to Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong. They can be attacked with any kind of attack method, but when attacked directly, they'll lose their bodies. The Kongs need to be careful not to collide with the Skellyrex head when it detaches from its body. Attacking the Skellyrex head again will defeat it for good.

Like most enemies, Skellirexes have a repeated pattern of walking left then right. If Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong come in contact with a Skellirex, it bites them and they lose a heart. The Kongs can safely attack Skellirexes with any attack. By doing so, the Skellirex loses its body, and its head detaches and forms into a Skullyrex. The Kongs can instantly defeat a Skellirex by directly attacking its head, and they can also instantly defeat the Mine Cart-riding Skellirexes by jumping on them.
Skellyrexes also have a relative, known as the Skullyrexes.

A Skellirex appears in concept artwork, where it more closely resembles a Tyrannosaurus and is missing its crest.
There are also some Skellyrexes that ride on mine carts, which are found at Prehistoric Path. These Skellyrexes can be taken out simply by jumping on them.
