Rocketbarrel Boost is Diddy Kong's special move that made its first appearance in Donkey Kong 64. It allows him to fly and use his Peanut Popguns. Rocketbarrel Boost appears in a few Mario spinoff games and Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
Donkey Kong 64
Rocketbarrel Boost (scientific name: Boostum Highus) is one of Diddy Kong's special moves in Donkey Kong 64. He can purchase the move at Cranky's Lab in exchange for five Banana Bunch Coins. Diddy must jump inside a Barrel with his face on it to use the move. Once he equips the jetpac, he can fly around and use his Peanut Popguns. The move is fueled by Crystal Coconuts.
Mario Power Tennis
In Mario Power Tennis, Diddy Kong uses his Rocketbarrel Boost to fly around while using his special shot.
Mario Hoops 3-on-3
Diddy Kong uses his Rocketbarrel Boost in Mario Hoops: 3 on 3. He flies around with it while using his special shot.
Super Smash Bros. series
Rocketbarrel Boost, mislabelled "Rocketbarrel Blast" in Brawl's manual, is Diddy Kong's Up Special Move in Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and wii U. It is his basic "recovery" move. By holding Up+B, Diddy will charge the rocketbarrels, and when fully charged, it goes a long distance, and it can be angled left or right as well. The distance depends on how long it was charged.
This move has a unique property to physically react when it goes into a wall (unlike most other attacks in Brawl that simply resume the animation). If Diddy collides with a wall or another character hits him, his flight will take an abrupt stop, his pack exploding and the tow rocketbarrels flying off randomly. He will receive a small amount of damage when he collides into a wall.
