Pompy, the Presumptuous
Pompy, as he appears in Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze.
|Full Name||Pompy, the Presumptuous|
|Games||Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze|
At some point before the events of the game, Pompy joined the Snomads, and was sent to conquer the Lost Mangroves, which he obediently did, simultaneously setting up a circus tent which he used not only as a lair, but also as a room to practice his tricks in. When Donkey Kong and co. eventually found his base, they snuck in, realizing that they had walked in on Pompy practicing his acrobatics. The sea lion noticed the intruders and grew angry, immediately summoning his minions to shove them into the arena to fight. Though the Kongs were initially shocked at this, they agreed to fight as well when they realized that Pompy worked for the Snomads. Despite his best efforts, the sea lion was bested and sent reeling away.
Pompy is an unusually large purple sea lion with a white underbelly who wears a viking helmet. He has two whiskers on both sides of his face, and a pair of thick, black eyebrows. He wears a brown, leather wristband around both flippers and a matching collar around his neck, which has the Snowmads' insignia on it.
Pompy comes off as a bit of a show-off, constantly practicing his acrobatics and even taking time during battle to pull off a trick in mid-air or strike a pose. He loves acrobatics so much that he will even resort to violently punishing anyone who interrupts his practice sessions. Being a high-ranking member of his clan, Pompy also has authority over a portion of the army, and is not above summoning them into battle to aid him or prevent his enemies from escaping. Noticeably, he is one of only two bosses in the game who takes advantage of this, the other being his ruler.
Powers and abilities
Befitting his species, Pompy is quite adept at swimming, belly-sliding, log-rolling (to protect his back from damage), and performing acrobatic stunts. He can also jump high enough to exit the water and land on a high ledge, and move quite fast, making him somewhat difficult to hit. Though his helmet protects his head from damage, his back is not always covered up, and is quite vulnerable to concussive force.
