On BJAODN archives, I see some small comments below sections which actually add to the humor, and there is nothing wrong with that, is there? I don't think we should just remove new comments on sight. I believe that comments should only be removed/trimmed down when they reach more than two (as any more than that, and some users may see it as a place to chat and then ''that'' would be overload). Therefore, in accordance to these ideas, I'm proposing that the guideline should be reworded to this instead;

Good points, but I don't think the discouragement angle should be removed altogether. A lot of the time, it seems that folks are commenting for the sake of commenting, which is what's being discouraged (in theory): genuinely witty remarks that ''do'' enhance the enjoyment of the entry should still be allowed even under the current rule ("discouraged" =/= "disallowed"). The tricky part is that what's funny for one person is lame for another, but that's gonna be an issue no matter what. I believe that comments which actually add to the humor should be allowed, like [[MarioWiki:BJAODN/Characters#Baby waluigi|this]] for example. However, we still want to discourage users from commenting just for the sake of it. It should also be highlighted that all comments should be aimed at either making that section funnier, or just giving an insight about the section. To back this up and prevent overload, we should also specifically say that we don't allow an excessive amount of comments on sections (like back-and forth exchanges between users, as the proposed states). Yes, the rule gives users a lot more freedom in commenting, but it also sets a specific standard, unlike our current rule.

Change of plans with my prank wiki idea. We will not do an SML Wiki for next year because SML had to get rid of all Mario characters thanks to Nintendo. We will instead be doing an SMG4 wiki for our 2022 April Fool's joke because this channel still has Mario characters in it. The featured article will be about the SMG4 version of Mario, the news section including fake news regarding Meta Runner and Sunset Paradise video games for the Switch and Luke Lerdwichagul being the wiki's new owner, and a poll stating which SMG4 character is your favorite. I've never been a fan of how comments are integrated among BJAODN entries, because it's often done with reckless abandon which causes them to blend into the rest of their respective entries. The comments, imo, should be more neatly incorporated; I was thinking that we should reach a consensus on a more suitable format for these comments. I'd personally favor giving them a forum-y touch, so my idea is to encase them in a cream-colored box, separate them with lines, and (where applicable) move each comment's signature above the comment itself, like so:

These two examples are lifted from the [[MarioWiki:BJAODN/Characters]] page. You'll notice that, outside of relocating the signatures and removing a hyphen that separated one comment from its signature, I didn't tamper with the original formatting and punctuation of any comment.

Obviously this would get cumbersome to format manually over and over, so a template would come in clutch:

Note: I use a custom wiki skin where the text is superimposed on a dark background, which renders the "Comments" labels illegible in the cream boxes. When logged out, I notice that these labels stick out too much; perhaps we could do without the labels and let the cream background itself suggest a comment section, like a post-it note of sorts? :::Yeah, even before you added your comment I was having second thoughts about this addition. The post-it format fills up too much space and, although not garish, still hampers readability. The original format, despite its shortcomings, has the net advantage of being more discreet, and has endured for so long because there's seldom anything you could do to improve it without adding superfluous elements. (Wikipedia's BJAODN uses pretty much the same comment "system" except it seems to have a bespoke "reply" button.) I will admit: this topic was more of a stream-of-consciousness than a well thought-out and researched proposition.
