The Wario Land series consists of Wario games with the phrase "Wario Land" in the title. They have appeared on more than one game console.

The games in the Wario Land series include:

Different Wario Lands

The Wario Land series can be split in three groups.

Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3 and Virtual Boy Wario Land

The first two Wario Lands looked more like Super Mario Bros. then later Wario Lands. These Wario Lands had floating blocks, like ? Blocks. Floating blocks have coins, helmets or hearts (collect 100 for a 1-up) in them. Helmets give Wario new abilities, such as flying or pound the ground. If Wario touches an enemy, he will take damage and will loose his helmets or shrink down size (just like Mario). Levels have a time limit.

Wario Land II and Wario Land 3

Floating blocks are gone. Wario is immortal and can't lose lives, but touching an enemy will stun Wario and he will fall back a bit. Some enemies don't stun Wario but will transform Wario in one of Wario's transformations. For example, if Wario touches a zombie, he will become one, or if he is crushed by something heavy, he will become flat. Wario's transformations can help him complete the level; for example Puffy Wario can float through the air, therefore helping you traverse levels. Transformations are a replacement of helmets from the previous two games. Levels don't have any time limit, but have more difficult puzzles.

Wario Land 4 and Wario Land: Shake It!

Wario is no longer immortal, but instead has Heart Points. If Wario touches an enemy, he will lose a heart. If all hearts are gone, Wario will be kicked out of the level and he will lose everything he had collected in the level, however, Wario can't get a game over. Wario's transformations are still in the game, but aren't as important as in the earlier Wario Lands. Levels still don't have any time limit, but at a certain point in the level, Wario needs to return to the beginning of the level in time limit, after activating a Frog Switch or shaking a Merfle Barrel. If Wario made it in time, the level is cleared. In Wario Land 4 if the timer reaches zero, Wario will lose coins until they are all gone. When Wario has no coins left, he will be send back to the Golden Pyramid. In Wario Land: Shake it! if the timer reaches zero, Wario will directly lose all his coins and collected items. If Wario had hit a checkpoint, he will be sent back to it.
