This template exists to be put on the talk pages of subjects that won in our annual Mario Awards ceremony. However, no one has bothered to do this for a long time, and the templates have fallen way out of date. The most recent ones I could find with a cursory look were from the eighth Mario Awards which took place back in 2014 (and even before then, there seem to be some missing ones). The obvious solution is to just add the last nine years of missing winners, but... do we really need this template at all? For one thing, I doubt that the average wiki user going to a subject's talk page really cares enough about the Awards, much less results from well over a decade ago, to warrant having this template. For another, the template is outdated and takes up a lot of space on the page. Take a look at how much space just three of these take up on Luigi's talk page - now consider that he's won an award every single year since, and each year requires an additional template. The Awards Committee collects and maintains all of the results from previous ceremonies, so this information isn't going anywhere for anyone who's really interested in it.

If this proposal fails, then reasonably the template should be added for all of the missing winners.

Support

  1. Waluigi Time (talk) Per me.
  2. Ninja Squid (talk) :kill:
  3. Hooded Pitohui (talk) Per proposal. The Awards Committee's documentation is sufficient for recording the winners.
  4. RHG1951 (talk) Per all.
  5. Hewer (talk) The non-forum talk pages do feel like a bit of a random place to put this information, per all.
  6. PnnyCrygr (talk) Wow. It is just beginning talkpage fodder/padding... Which is why I support to put this template down.
  7. Mushroom Head (talk) Per all.
  8. Camwoodstock (talk) Per all; we feel like if this template were to stick around in literally any capacity, we'd have to probably change it to be much less obtrusive--and even then, we'd still need to update every last relevant talkpage. ;P
  9. Mario (talk) Not worth the hassle.
  10. SolemnStormcloud (talk) Template:Award-winner has lost a page on the Super Mario Wiki!! (Per all.)
  11. ThePowerPlayer (talk) Per all.

Oppose

  1. Mario (talk) But how else will people know that gravity has won an award?
  2. Shokora (talk) – I use it on my userpage D:<

SolemnStormcloud: Now I'm entertaining the idea of that being a proposal result header. ;P Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 14:57, December 17, 2023 (EST)
