"Adventures of Yoshi"

Question.svg This talk page or section has a conflict or a question that needs to be answered. Please try to help and resolve the issue by leaving a comment.

From what I can tell, the video reference was originally used as a source to say that the so-called "Adventures of Yoshi" series is "often put together with" the Yoshi's Island series; however, as anyone can see, it is clearly not the actual source for the new "Adventures of Yoshi" phrase. What is the actual source for the name? LinkTheLefty (talk) 15:15, 22 October 2017 (EDT)

I didn't create the page, although I did some edits using this term before. The source actually says his adventures on the video description, and the text talks about Yoshi's first adventure when talking about Yoshi's Island and also calls Yoshi's New Island a colourful adventure and Yoshi's Woolly World is callled an amazing adventure. To be fully strict, we can use the name Yoshi's Adventures using as source the description of the video(his is referred to Yoshi).--Mister Wu (talk) 18:42, 22 October 2017 (EDT)
To be fully strict, "Yoshi (platform series)" should be the name if anything, assuming that doesn't overlap with the Yoshi's Island series. Technically, "Adventures of Yoshi" and "Yoshi's Adventures" are unofficial. LinkTheLefty (talk) 18:48, 22 October 2017 (EDT)
The user who made this page has a history of making large changes without community approval, by the way. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 23:53, 25 October 2017 (EDT)
Considering how the upcoming game seems to be just called Yoshi as preliminary title, Yoshi (platform series) or Yoshi (platform games) should indeed be better names. Looking at the video, it seems that indeed Nintendo puts the Yoshi's Island series in this broader series/group. Sorry for having introduced the Adventures of Yoshi name in the wiki and for having made you wait so long. Sadly, for a couple of days I will be busy and likely won't be able to make the appropriate changes, feel free to make them if you think this page and the templates need prompt fixes before I'm able to do them by myself.--Mister Wu (talk) 10:37, 17 November 2017 (EST)
Save for what I might have missed, I should have made the preliminary fixes now, if there are other problems related to this issue you can discuss them here.--Mister Wu (talk) 21:48, 18 November 2017 (EST)

Merge this article

I propose that the Yoshi platform series article should be merged into the Yoshi's Island series article because Yoshi Topsy-Turvy, Yoshi's Woolly World, and the upcoming Yoshi game for the Nintendo Switch are considered spin-offs of the Yoshi's Island games. According to Kyle Hilliard from my December 2015 issue on Game Informer, for example:

Yoshi's Woolly World is the Wii U's best-looking game, as well as the best Yoshi's Island since the original Super Nintendo title. It has a great balance of challenge, exciting bosses, callbacks to the first game, and enough new mechanics and touches to make it easily stand above each attempt at creating a Yoshi's Island successor of the past two decades.

As Alex95 mentioned, Internet game media sources isn't considerable for such as change. If Nintendo-related source confirms the two series, then the Wiki will support it. Alien Bunny Sprite.pngL151Onnanoko

While I can see the point of putting the Yoshi's Island series in the page of the Yoshi platform games, the reasons you are giving are in my opinion flawed: the Yoshi's Island series was shown in an official bookMedia:SMP Yoshi's Island opt.png, the Super Mario PiaMedia:SMP page 98 opt.png, which also described the most relevant gameplay aspects of said series, while the series of Yoshi platform games was shown in a video made by Nintendo. They don't come from journalism categorization like in the case of the Game Informer article. I would rather find other reasons like "The Yoshi's Island series is official, but it doesn't need its own page, it can be perfectly described in full in a subsection of the page about the Yoshi platform games".--Mister Wu (talk) 14:51, 6 March 2018 (EST)
