Merge with Yoshi's Island

So "Yo'ster Isle" is another one of those inconsistent translations according to the trivia. Then it should be merged with Yoshi's Island (place). There seem to be quite a few inconsistencies in SMRPG (how could they name Cheep-Cheep "Goby"?). --Grandy02 12:34, 17 January 2010 (EST)

I believe this exact discussion has happened time and time again. I both support the merge, but also oppose it because there's quite a bit of info here that could stand on its own. How is the information being able to stand on its own a reason not to merge these? I'm sure a lot of articles have sections that could theoretically stand on their own and we still don't split them because of that. All the information from this article would fit in well in the Yoshi's Island (place) article, as a section on its appearance in Super Mario RPG; in fact, the article already has this section, mentioning that Yo'ster Island is simply the name used for Yoshi's Island in SMRPG. Since the Japanese name is indeed the same for both (ヨースター島), I would definitely agree with a merge, since this appears to be no more than a mistranslation, and we merged Shy Away with Beezo and Goby with Cheep-Cheep as well.--vellidragon 13:47, 19 January 2010 (EST)

I fully agree. All information can be transferred. And even when the island is called "Yoshi's Island" in English, the place's appearance changes more or less throughout the series, yet it's still all in one article. If the only reason we're saying to merge this is because of the Japanese names being the same, shouldn't Kamek and Magikoopa also be merged? --Marcelagus (talk)

No because Kamek is a specific magikoopa, while magikoopas are a species. KS3 (talk · contribute)

But what justifies that this Yo'ster Isle is the same thing as Yoshi's Island, then? If they're named differently in the English versions of the game but the same in the Japanese versions, then there's no conclusive evidence showing that they are the same, and we would be assuming that this was a translation mistake, no? --Marcelagus (talk)

Well, they DID mistranslate Cheep Cheep as Goby and Beezo as Shy Away, so more translation mistkaes are expected. Reversinator (talk)
