The Spike Block is a course element in Super Mario Maker 2, found in the "Terrain" category. It is only present in the Super Mario 3D World game style and is similar to the Spike Trap, except it is on a timer which causes the spikes to poke out or not, functioning similar to the retracting spike obstacles seen in multiple levels in the original Super Mario 3D World such as Spiky Spike Bridge. The Spike Block can be set up so the spikes become active under the control of an ON/OFF Switch, and as such can be toggled.[1]
