The Skull Gem is a red crystal in Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door that resembles a skull. Flavio's ancestors stole this gem from Cortez, and it is the key component to run the Black Skull, Cortez's ship. You also need it to gain access to the Pirate's Grotto. In the first few chapters the gem can be seen on the table near Flavio in Podley's Place.
