The Octopot is a strange jar-like creature that has only appeared in the game Yoshi's Safari. This being lived underwater and was the source of the Octos. During the subjugation of Jewelry Land, the Octopot served as a mini-boss in Bowser's forces.
Mario and Yoshi encountered the Octopot in the fourth level of Light World, Crescent Coast. The strange creature ambushed the heroic duo as they were traveling underwater. The Octopot launched wave after wave of Octos at Mario and Yoshi, letting its cephalopod minions do its work. Fortunately, Mario could simply fire his Super Scope and blast the Octos right as they emerged from the jar creature, eliminating their threat. Mario could also blast the Octopot in the face. After sustained gunfire, the jar-like Octopot would shatter into many small pieces, ending its existence. This is the only mini-boss that is not fought twice in the entire game.
