Toadette, the cutest Toad around.

Toadette is Toad’s female counterpart and is rumored to be his sister or girlfriend. Unlike most Toads, she has a pink cap with white spots, instead of a white cap with colored spots. Little else is known about her, as she was mainly created to provide Toad with a partner in multiplayer games.

Toadette first appeared in Mario Kart: Double Dash!! as Toad’s racing partner. Both Toad and Toadette need to be unlocked before they become playable characters. Additionally, her personal racer, the Toadette Kart, can only be unlocked after Toadette herself is unlocked. Their special item is the Golden Mushroom.

In Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, Toadette appears whenever Mario discovers a Hammer or a new pair of boots. She hosts a tutorial session with Mario, explaining how to use the newfound ability. Additionally, the game also reveals she likes animals and that she became sad when “squishy little Punio” stopped visiting Rogueport Sewers.

Also, the game indicates that Toadette is a very emotional character. For instance, if the player changes the time on their GameCube’s clock, Lucky, the Bulky Bob-omb who runs the Rogueport lottery, will mention that the lottery numbers were messed up because someone changed the clock, and that when he told Toadette this, she cried her little eyes out. Additionally, during the last tutorial session with Mario, Toadette will run off crying, knowing she will not see the plumber hero for the rest of the adventure.

It is also significant to note that during these tutorials, Toadette blushes whenever Mario performs a new move correctly, indicating that Toadette might have a slight crush on the hero of the Mushroom Kingdom.

Strangely, her counterpart Toad does not appear at all in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door.

Toadette has also become a recurring character in the Mario Party series. In Mario Party 6, Toadette can be unlocked by paying the Star Bank thirty Stars. In the sequel, Mario Party 7, she does not need to be unlocked. Toad and Toadette share the same special orb: the Triple ‘Shroom Orb , which allows the player to roll two dice blocks for three turns. Strangely, in Mario Party 6, when she is put on the same team as Wario, the team name is "Secret Friends", implying that Wario and Toadette are actually good friends (although Wario is on negative terms with her brother, Toad). Additionally, when teamed up with other malicious or evil characters the resulting team name is usually quite positive towards them (for example, Waluigi and Toadette is 'Diabolical Duo' and teamed with Boo is 'Terrifying Twosome' and teamed with Koopa Kid is 'Potent Pals'). This leads some to believe that Toadette may have a dark side.

Toadette is also a playable character in the game Mario Superstar Baseball. However, like Mario Party 6, she needs to be unlocked. To make her available, Princess Peach must beat Challenge Mode as the Team Captain. Toadette is a speed type character who plays well when Princess Peach, Toadsworth, and Toad are on her team.

During the events of Dance Dance Revolution: Mario Mix, Toadette opens a hotel by the sea in World 2-1. However, because of the chaos caused by the removal of the Music Keys from Truffle Towers, her hotel became twisted like a corkscrew. Thankfully, Mario arrives and uses the power of dancing to return her hotel to its original shape.

Both Toadette and Toad have a brief cameo appearance in the intro movie to Mario Power Tennis. The two Toads were probably going to be playable characters but were removed later, after the intro movie had been made.

Mario Superstar Baseball

"A cute Toad girl with plaited locks. Though her profile is relatively unkown, she is definitely a cheery, upbeat girl who's full of energy. Taking advantage of her fast legs and light weight, Toadette can make a lot of plays look completley routine."
