“Look at that... The Void... It's enormous here... Much bigger than it is in Flipside... This dimension must be very close to destruction... We'd better hurry... We have a Pure Heart to find.”
Tippi, Super Paper Mario

King Sammer and all the Sammer Guys.

Sammer's Kingdom is the setting of Chapter 6, and is the namesake of Chapter 6-1, in Super Paper Mario. It was destroyed by The Void, leaving nothing but an empty white space, but was restored after the story's end. This land is ruled by King Sammer. It is most notable for being the location of the Duel of 100 tournament, and holds Duels 1-25.

Chapter 6-1: Sammer Guy Showdown

Template:Spoiler Mario passed through the Blue Door and arrived at a tranquil courtyard of a pagoda-topped palace. The beauty was soon forgotten though, as Tippi quickly realized that the Void was larger here than it was anywhere they had been before; it wouldn't be long before the Void would consume the dimension.

Using a door on the other side of a peaceful creek, Mario passed through the palace's walls and came into a grassy stadium. Atop the arena he was stopped by an eccentric warrior. The warrior, named Jade Blooper, immediately attacked Mario. Jade Blooper stood no chance however, and was quickly defeated. Jade Blooper stated that he was the Sammer Guy that guarded the 1st Gate, as if Mario knew what he was talking about. Tippi was utterly baffled, and inquired on what the Sammer Guy meant.

It was then that an excited, short man hustled onto the arena. He was King Sammer, ruler of Sammer's Kingdom. King Sammer cheered for Mario's success against Jade Blooper, and then explained that he believed Mario was the chosen one who would save the kingdom from the Void. King Sammer held the dimension's Pure Heart; however, he refused to hand it over so easily. As precautions (and, being an excitable king, to also have some fun), King Sammer declared that Mario could not set a finger on the Pure Heart until he defeated all 100 Sammer Guys in the challenging Duel of 100. Saying that this year's Duel of 100 would be quite interesting with Mario as the contestant, King Sammer returned to his palace at the end of the 100th gate to watch the tournament from afar.

All did not go as planned, however. Shortly after beating the 20th vassal, Rolling Thwomp, Count Bleck appeared and announced that Sammer's Kingdom's time was very short. Tippi catched Count Bleck mentioning somebody named Lady Timpani, who the count had loved. The name rang a bell, but before Tippi could inquire more, the count left.

Rolling Thwomp began to panic, and in seconds he ran off to warn King Sammer of the danger. In doing so, Rolling Thwomp knocked down the remaining Sammer Guys, allowing Mario to easily run to the second quarter of the tournament. Template:Endspoiler

Enemies

The Duel of 100

After finishing the game, Mario may start the Duel of 100 over. The prizes are some of the rarest cards in Super Paper Mario, Goombella, Koops, Madame Flurrie, Yoshi, Vivian, Admiral Bobbery and Ms. Mowz.

As before, Chapter 6-1 has Rounds 1-25.

Enemies

Same as Chapter 6-1

Other Events

In addition to the Duel of 100, Sammer's Kingdom hosts many other popular events--Mario never encounters these, and only learns of them via Tippi/Tiptron's tattle information on the Sammer Guys. These events include:

  • The Sammer Guy Break Hour
  • The annual Sammer Guy BBQ
  • The annual Sammer Quiz

Trivia

  • As with King Sammer and the Sammer Guys, the name Sammer's Kingdom is a pun on the word Samurai.
  • The design of Sammer's Kingdom is based on Japanese pagodas. Despite Nintendo being a Japanese company, this is the first time anything relating to Japanese culture has made a major appearance in a Mario game.
