:The problem with sound effects is that they are likely only 5 seconds long or shorter. In general, we want audio files of a minimum of 1 minute, give or take a few seconds, that demonstrate tunes of the game (tonight: I'm finally uploading level music of SM64). The max would be 4-6 minutes. Super C can convert WAV to OGG if you have some real tunes, but sound effects: if they're short, I suggest not wasting bandwidth. <span style="font-family:Kunstler Script; color:#006633;"><font size="5">'''[[User:Wayoshi|W]]'''ayoshi</font></span><small> ( [[User talk:Wayoshi|T]]<tt>&middot;</tt>[[Special:Contributions/Wayoshi|C]]<tt>&middot;</tt>[[Special:Emailuser/Wayoshi|@]] )</small> 20:09, 26 September 2006 (EDT)

:Exactly. If you have plenty of songs from each, use {{tem|media-multiple}} and choose the best eight songs (SMW: level music, title music, boss music, etc.) (SMK: some popular course music, title, etc.) for each game, then create a new section titled Media (<tt><nowiki>==Media==</nowiki></tt>) and add the template with the appropriate variables (look closely at the templates ''after'' I edit them right now). Be sure everything is in .ogg format, I can't wait to see the songs. <span style="font-family:Kunstler Script; color:#006633;"><font size="5">'''[[User:Wayoshi|W]]'''ayoshi</font></span><small> ( [[User talk:Wayoshi|T]]<tt>&middot;</tt>[[Special:Contributions/Wayoshi|C]]<tt>&middot;</tt>[[Special:Emailuser/Wayoshi|@]] )</small> 20:09, 26 September 2006 (EDT)

I propose (as I always do :P) that there will be three major types of contributors for this PipeProject:

  1. Uploaders: Someone seriously hooked to VGMusic has thousands of files on their computer. With a converter to .OGG to go, these contributors can, of course, do a heavy part of the uploading for the wiki.
  2. Technical: Anyone familiar with wiki syntax can use the {{media}} templates to add the files directly to articles.
  3. Describers: A short description for each file on the file page (Image namespace) and media template is needed.

It is easily possible that you can be more than one or all of these types. I personally have about 50-100 good audio files (1-4 min) that could be uploaded, I created the media templates to use, and you can see some descriptions at DDR Mario Mix (they could be improved). However, someone could be a specialist in one area – you don't have to go through converting to .OGG and uploading to help in this PipeProject. Let us know how you plan to contribute here.

Help?

Umm, earlier, before I started my SMG project, on MFGG I ripped a bunch of Super Mario Galaxy sound effects with my microphone and saved them into a .zip folder as .WAV files. Could they help in any way? Some are good quality, some bad, some great. --Kelt 19:53, 24 September 2006 (EDT)

I have songs

I have the in game songs for games like SMW and SMK, do I just make a section for their music on their page or what?

Exactly. If you have plenty of songs from each, use {{media-multiple}} and choose the best eight songs (SMW: level music, title music, boss music, etc.) (SMK: some popular course music, title, etc.) for each game, then create a new section titled Media (==Media==) and add the template with the appropriate variables (look closely at the templates after I edit them right now). Be sure everything is in .ogg format, I can't wait to see the songs. Wayoshi ( T·C·@ ) 20:09, 26 September 2006 (EDT)
