I need to get one other thing straight. Fangames are NOT indies. Indies are video games. Fangames are small games put together unprofessionally by bored fans and do not create any sort of financial profit for anyone. Indies are made not only with quality in mind, but with making a decent amount of money as a goal. Most indie developers rely entirely on the income from their games and thus have to make good, fun games with an enjoyable gameplay experience. Fangame creators don’t have quality or profits in mind. All they want is for their game to be the centre of attention for a while and then drift off into deep time without any sort of legacy or recorded praise. Perhaps the most defining difference between fangames and indies is this: Indie video games, on average, have 18,700% more players than fangames do. There’s your information. Your logical appeal.
