Goonies are white birds in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island and Yoshi's Story. They appear in most mountain levels and are always in groups. They have many different behaviors, some fly and carry items, the flightless ones run along the ground causing a blockade. Some are very fat and try to squash you flat by rolling around like a boulder.

Goonies are essentially Dinosaur Land's answer to the seagull. A zombified version of the goonie is a Skeleton Goonie, which usually carries bombs.
They will make a comeback in the new Yoshi's Island 2.
