A Fake Item Box is an item in the Mario Kart series. They look like item boxes, but make the karter tumble if you hit them. They have an ¿ instead of an ? in the original Mario Kart, another ¿ and red in Mario Kart: Double Dash, and show up red on the touch screen map in Mario Kart DS.
