Before the battle, a regular [[Goomba]] gains access to a [[Mega Mushroom]] and becomes Mega Goomba. [[Mario]] must defeat this boss to acquire the key that provides access to World 5.
After enough punches, the Clubosaur loses the club and reverts to standing on all fours. Now the Clubosaur may charge at Wario, a more powerful attack that leaves him immobile for a few seconds.

To defeat Mega Goomba, Mario must activate a switch, causing two platforms to appear. When Mario stands on the platform, it will elevate in the air. From there, Mario can either [[Wall Jump]], or [[Jump]] directly on top of the Mega Goomba. For the attack to be successful, Mario must [[Ground Pound]] the Goomba (unless he is Mega Mario).
Other varieties of Clubosaurs include Skelosaurs, Gatorbabies, Polar Bears, Grizzlies, Masked Clubbers, and Club Mummies. Aside from a few costume changes and choice of club (the Polar Bear uses an icicle, for example) , these enemies behave in exactly the same way as Clubosaurs, though they do get progressively more aggressive.

Once Mario hits the Mega Goomba three times, the Goomba will die, and Mario can get the key to World 5.
This Goomba originated in the very first previews of New SMB or as it was called back then, Super Mario Bros. DS in which it was a normal level enemy goomba until it was caught in contact with a [[Super Mushroom]] which made him the same size as he was in the current game. This new and innovative feature was taken out for unknown reasons. Possibly due to the game being extremely hard if certain enemies turned mega.

Wario and a Clubosaur

A Clubosaur is a triceratops-like enemy that Wario encountered in Wario World. As its name implies, it stands on its hind legs and wields a club. At any time, the Clubosaur may charge up and go on a rampage, swinging its club frantically. The Clubosaur is invincible in this state, but the attack doesn't last very long. The club also blocks all frontal attacks, so Wario needs to sneak up on a Clubosaur from behind.

After enough punches, the Clubosaur loses the club and reverts to standing on all fours. Now the Clubosaur may charge at Wario, a more powerful attack that leaves him immobile for a few seconds.

Other varieties of Clubosaurs include Skelosaurs, Gatorbabies, Polar Bears, Grizzlies, Masked Clubbers, and Club Mummies.
