Mallow

Mallow, the young "tadpole".

Mallow is Mario's first partner in Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars.

Mario first meets Mallow in The Mushroom Kingdom. He is chasing a crocodile named Croco, who stole his Grandpa Frogfucius' Frog Coin. He starts crying and Mario comes up to him and agrees to get the coin back. Mallow tells Mario that he is a frog, but he can't Jump.

Mario and Mallow go into Bandit's Way to catch Croco. After running after him for a while, they finally catch him. They battle him and defeat him. Croco gives Mallow the coin back and says he'll pay Mallow back (which he does, in the Moleville Mines later on).

Mallow thanks Mario and they return to The Mushroom Kingdom. However, when they get there the town has been attacked by Shysters, which are a type of Shy Guy on a pogo stick.

Mario and Mallow make their way to Mushroom Kingdom Castle, where the leader of the Shysters, Mack, fights them. After defeating Mack, he drops a Star Piece.

The Chancellor thanks Mario and Mallow, but he is worried about Smithy and his weapons. Mallow suggests that Mario goes to Tadpole Pond where his Grandpa Frogfucius lives.

They go through Kero Sewers to reach Tadpole Pond. When they arrive Frogfucius tells Mario and Mallow that Mario must collect the Seven Star Pieces to help defeat Smithy, and that Mallow is to go with him. Mallow is shocked and says that a small tadpole like him shouldn't go on such a huge adventure. Frogfucius explains to him that Mallow isn't actually a tadpole! Frogfucius found Mallow in a basket which fell down the waterfall and adopted him. He asks Mallow to find his real family. Mallow joins Mario's quest.

In battle, Mallow's attack is nothing special, but he has great attacking magic and he's your healer until Princess Toadstool joins your party.
