This proposal is a supplement to my proposal to reorganize Category:Music, since this really has no reason to be bundled in with that.

I don't really think the name "in-game music" is very indicative of what this category is about. It makes it sound like this is the category for game music, and Category:Music is for... I dunno, music from the DiC cartoons.

In actuality, this movie is about menus in games where you can listen to that game's music. The most common term for these is "sound tests", so I think that's what the category should be called.

Support

  1. Ahemtoday (talk) Per proposal.
  2. Pseudo (talk) Per proposal.
  3. ToxicOJ (talk) Per proposal.
  4. Hewer (talk) Per proposal, the current name is very misleading.
  5. Camwoodstock (talk) This category at the moment sounds like it'd be a media category, not a category for sound tests. This is definitely a much-needed clarification.
  6. TheFlameChomp (talk) Per proposal.

Oppose

  1. PaperSplash (talk) "Sound test" isn't the most common term for these menus in Mario games, and the term is somewhat of a misnomer nowadays; the "test" part originally referred to literally testing whether a game's sound worked correctly, which is rarely the actual purpose of the "sound tests" listed in the "in-game music" category.
