Don't rename 0-12

If the categories of Canines and Felines is now Cats and Dogs respectively now, this should be simplified to rats so people can easily understand it.

Proposer: A Paragoomba and the Koopa Bros. (talk)

Support[edit]

Oppose[edit]

  1. Randombob-omb4761 (talk) Rats aren't the only rodents, there's mice, capybaras, hamsters, squirrels, and chipmunks, those are ALL rodents.
  2. Baby Luigi (talk) All rats are rodents but not all rodents are rats. The term "rodent" describes exactly as Randombomb-omb has said, it's a category. Rats are much more specific than rodents therefore it doesn't merit a change.
  3. LeftyGreenMario (talk) I wouldn't categorize Gnawties, Conker, Ms. Mowz, Flurl the Squirrel, and Fuzz under rats because that's an insult to them.
  4. Walkazo (talk) - Per my comment, and the other voters who have pointed out that "rat" is not actually an accepted umbrella term for Rodentia as a whole.
  5. Turboo (talk) - Per Walkazo.
  6. Megadardery (talk) Per all
  7. Iggy Koopa Jr (talk) Nope. Per all.
  8. Yoshi876 (talk) Per Walkazo.
  9. Gonzales Kart Inc. (talk) But there's mice and things, and they are rodents, right?
  10. SuperYoshiBros (talk) Per all.
  11. Tucayo (talk) - Per Walkazo.
  12. Icemario11 (talk) - Per Walkazo.

Comments[edit]

For consistency this could probably just be moved, rather than going through the process of another drawn-out TPP.

I agree with YoshiKong.

Except this proposed name isn't consistent with the other ones. "Cat", "dog" and "pig" all work as casual umbrella terms, but "rat" is not a proper way to refer to rodents as a whole. Given how Rodentia includes such non-rat-like critters as beavers and porcupines, it's not intuitive at all and would just confuse people. - Walkazo 23:29, 17 September 2013 (EDT)

I never thought I'd make this useless proposal on my part, let's not hope we do it again.. --APA TKB Umbreon, from Pokémon. 04:13, 30 October 2013 (EDT)

Rename to Vermin?[edit]

After the last one failed, let's start this again. I just had no clue that rats had nothing to do with some animals. Vermin is also another way to describe rodents.

Deadline: CANCELLED

Support[edit]

  1. A Paragoomba and the Koopa Bros. (talk) Well, judging how we tend to use "flame" more than "bully", let's call it this.

Oppose[edit]

  1. Yoshi876 (talk) I'd say Rodents is an easier term to recognize than Vermin, and we go for simplicity.
  2. Icemario11 (talk) Rodents works fine and there's no actual need to change it, I'd think. Besides, I find vermin a less explicit term, as less would likely know what counts as vermin.

Comments[edit]

Is there a way to cancel a proposal without admins? As I think this is likely gonna fail too. --APA TKB Umbreon, from Pokémon. 13:05, 30 October 2013 (EDT)
