When a bunch of Boos attacked and clung onto [[Mario]] in [[Creepy Steeple]], Mario knocked them away with his Super [[Hammer]], which angered the Boos. They then combined together to attack him. Atomic Boo attacks by flinging Boos at Mario, charging up a spook attack, and hitting Mario with status ailments. Once Atomic Boo was defeated, he would relinquish his Lucky Start [[badge]] to Mario.
