Throwback Galaxy

A galaxy that features a redesigned Whomp's Fortress from Super Mario 64, is confirmed to make an appearance in Super Mario Galaxy 2. The music is also an orchestrated arrangement of the original Super Mario 64 Main Theme, as the original version was also played on Whomp's Fortress. New enemies were added, such as the Paragoombas and the Skeeters. Other enemies seen first in the original game also return like Piranha Plants, Thwomps and Whomps. A Bob-omb Buddy also appears in the galaxy.

It is thought that this is part of the "Throwback Galaxy". A small circular planet floats off to the north-east of Whomp's Fortress (where North is the direction of the large slope at the beginning, going upwards), thus suggesting that the Whomp's Fortress area maybe a single planet in a much larger galaxy.
