The Thwomp Stompers

Thwomp Stompers are tools used in the Super Mario Bros. film. They are most likely based on the Goomba's Shoe, but using the Thwomp as a design-theme.

Thwomp Stompers are a pair of large boots which propel anyone who uses them into the air. These are first seen worn by Big Bertha. She escapes on them after stealing Princess Daisy's necklace from Mario and Luigi. Much later, Big Bertha allows Mario and Luigi to use her Thwomp Stompers to escape from Lena and her Goomba minions. During the climactic battle between Mario and King Koopa, the Thwomp Stompers once again come into play.

Artwork for the Thwomp Stompers reveals progress towards the final item seen in the released film. The first (left) is a basic concept that has yet to develop the "Super Mario" feel to it. The second (right) is much closer to what is seen in the finished movie, but the colors are swapped around with the interior being dark gray and the outside red.
