Not much is known about this mysterious object. It may not even exist. Luigi speaks of it several times during Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, where he supposedly went on an adventure.
Supposedly, the compass was broken in to seven pieces. When all seven pieces come together, it will give Luigi all the power he needs to beat The Chestnut King and rescue Princess Éclair. This plot is somewhat similar to the plot of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, complete with Luigi gaining party members.
